Our Approach to Integrative Psychotherapy
At Bridge Psychotherapy, we offer integrative psychotherapy in Galway, combining talk therapy with a deeper awareness of how emotions and experiences are held in the body. Our approach is tailored to each individual, supporting lasting emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”
— Carl Rogers

Our Approach to Therapy
Psychotherapy can help guide you through the many challenges, changes, and uncertainties life brings, a journey of inner discovery and awareness leading toward greater well-being, balance, insight, and clarity.
Our work draws on an integrative approach. Integrative psychotherapy combines different therapeutic theories depending on your individual needs. We believe each of us holds the key to our own healing, that we each possess the innate potential to work through our difficulties and live more harmoniously. Whatever brings you to therapy, committing to your emotional health is a deeply rewarding step, with benefits that can last a lifetime.
Biodynamic Psychotherapy
Body or Biodynamic psychotherapy helps you learn to regulate emotions when feelings become too intense to manage through talking alone. Rather than thinking through difficult feelings, you come to know them through the body’s actual sensations, learning to recognise and safely explore emotions as they arise. No amount of talking about fear can convince a frightened body that it’s safe; it needs to experience safety.
Biodynamic psychotherapy is rooted in the idea of life energy flowing naturally through a healthy body, a flow that our life experiences can either support or disturb. The more disturbed it becomes, the less well we feel, both physically and psychologically. Over time, we all develop habitual ways of carrying stress and tension, what’s sometimes called our “armoured posture,” echoed in phrases like carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. These holding patterns are usually unconscious. By working with breath, movement, and touch, body psychotherapy brings them into awareness, and in doing so, helps you understand yourself more fully.

“Trauma is not what happens to us but what we hold inside, in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
— Peter Levine
